Hepworth host U9 tournament in glorious weather and setting
Saturday afternoon saw Hepworth Juniors host an Under 9 tournament at their Far Lane ground…this is what all kids’ football matches should be like!
Hepworth and Dalton Under 8s and Under 9s, as well as Holmfirth Under 9s, played a round-robin tournament of 20 minute matches. Boys from all teams performed brilliantly and provided a great spectacle of football for the Mums and Dads who were enjoying the refreshments in the glorious sunshine.
Our boys played some of the best football they have played all season with some great skill, passing and movement. Although they narrowly lost three of their games, they did win the ‘grudge’ match, with many of the boys playing against their school classmates in the Hepworth Under 9 team.
The outstanding team on the day were the Hepworth Under 8s who fought and ran like terriers in the searing heat.
A thoroughly good afternoon was had by all. Even coach Ben found time to wet his palate, a much deserved pint for a great first season in charge.
