Holmfirth Town JFC – U11’s – “Tournament Triumphs”
Outstanding performances as the U11 Group win “silverware” at back to back tournaments……..
- 3rd June 2018 – PGG CUP – HUDDERSFIELD TOWN’S CANALSIDE TRAINING CAMPUS
Holmfirth Town JFC entered two teams (Reds and Blacks) into this prestigious tournament held at Huddersfield Towns training ground on Leeds road.
In searing heat the format was “speed football” playing 6 a side – 6 minute matches against some familiar foes and also a Danish team of “giants”. All the boys across the two teams made the Club “proud as punch” with the “Red” team progressing through to the finals and winning 5.0 against Dalton A.
There were outstanding team and individual performances throughout with Finlay Lennon being awarded our “Player of the Tournament” for being exceptional in all the games – “WELL DONE FIN” and to all the boys on such a brilliant achievement.
The parents and boys celebrated afterwards at a local establishment where burgers were served and the “J20”s flowed…….….
- 10th June 2018 – HUDDERSFIELD YMCA FOOTBALL FESTIVAL
Another hot day where the format was more traditional playing 9 a side – 20 minute matches on pitches which whilst as flat as Holme Moss…… were in great nick to play our sort of football.
Holmfirth Town JFC entered one team made up of players from the “Black’s” team from the previous PGG Tournament, players from Richards team and Charlie and Reuben. The format was based on two groups playing with combined results forming a “league” table with the top two teams playing for the “Cup” and the third and fourth placed teams playing for the “Plate” (a plate looking very similar to the world cup….).
In hot conditions the boys were absolutely brilliant. In the early stages of the group the lads played back to back matches “uphill” rather than “down dale” progressing up the league table to set up a “Plate” final against Wyke which they duly won 2.0 with goals from Freddie and Reuben.
Archie “B” was awarded “man mountain” of the Tournament by both his Team Managers and team mates for his massive work rate throughout all the matches – “WELL DONE ARCHIE”.
